We follow the Birth to Three Framework alongside other local and national guidelines. The well-being of children and young people is at the heart of GIRFEC. The approach uses SHANARRI indicators which represent basic requirements for children to grow and develop and reach their full potential.

We recognise the importance of the early years therefore offer stimulating, positive outcomes for children in our core to nurture their growth to compliment their ever changing development.

A wide range of activities are ever changing to stimulate, entertain and engage in to support learning and development and build on children’s interests. Each individual child’s needs are met with our safe warm, secure and welcoming environment.

Through learning opportunities and experiences we influence child development, attachments, play, transitions and aim to achieve positive outcomes using the 4 key principles, Respect, Responsive Care, Relationships and Rights of the Child for the best possible start.

We use the Curriculum for Excellence to meet varying needs of children in our care, allowing us to continue the child’s learning and development.

We include other local and national guidelines eg. Responsive Planning, Building the Ambition, How Good Is Our Early Learning in Children, Health and Social Care Standards my support, my life, which all link together to provide the best possible learning opportunities and experiences.

The experiences and outcomes children participate in, recognise the importance of the quality and the nature of the learning experiences, we reflect on the children’s interests.

Working together, we ensure that the child is at the centre to lead their learning, progress and achieve. We want our children to be successful learners, effective contributors, responsible citizens and confident individuals.
